Julie Gonzalez earned her B.S. in Middle Childhood Education (with concentrations in Science and English Language Arts) from Franciscan University of Steubenville and her M.Ed. in Science Education (Grade K-14) from Concordia University. She is currently working to complete her EdD in Curriculum and Instruction from Northcentral University. By the end of the 2021 school year, Ms . Gonzalez will have been teaching seventh and eighth grade Science, Health, Graphic Design, and Website Design for four years. Ms. Gonzalez loves teaching and believes that one of the best aspects of her school is the advanced hands-on laboratory curriculum. As the department head, she had the freedom to design the curriculum to best fit and challenge her students as she prepares them for high school and college. She was very excited to take part in the grant study as her classroom does not fit the typical mold. Her desks are not in rows and her students rarely sit for long periods of time since they often have labs to complete. This type of collaborative environment tends to attract or exacerbate certain behavioral issues that can post challenges and impede learning.
